Photoshop – All About Layer Masks

Now that you've finished the Layers class, here's the next step.  This class is devoted to nothing but Photoshop's Layer Masks! Layers and masks are one of the most powerful parts of Photoshop. Masks are an integral part of layering and compositing and special effects. To truly master layering, masking is an essential part.

 

Level: Level: Advanced Beginner - intermediate.  A good understanding of the basics of Photoshop/Elements is required.

The world of macro (close-up) photography is one of the most awe inspiring and challenging areas of photography. This workshop will teach you how to think "macro" and how it's very different from "regular" shooting. You'll learn techniques to master consistently good macro images. Tripod is required.

Waterfalls of the Umpqua Field Trip

Waterfalls have always been a popular destination for photographers. But, where are the good waterfalls and how do I shoot them once I find them? This field trip will help you with both of these questions. We'll visit several different types of waterfalls and learn how to capture these challenging scenes. Plan a whole day (7am-7pm) for this trip. (note: there will be several miles of walking/mild hiking throughout the day.)

Shooting & Stitching Panoramas and Wide View Images

Monday, June 25th, 2018, 3:30pm-5pm, $35

Stitching is a valuable technique that allows you to take very wide angle shots without the distortions and expense of extreme wide angle lenses.  You'll learn the shooting and processing techniques and software need to produce images you never thought possible. From multi-row shooting to ideal focal lengths to tripod leveling, you come away armed and dangerous.  You'll also learn how to find the nodal point of your lenses so you can create the perfect point of rotation.  There's more to it than just moving the camera left to right!

Photoshop – All About Selections

Monday, June 25th, 2018, 6pm - 9pm $45

Here's an entire class devoted to nothing but Selections! Selections are some of the most powerful parts of Photoshop, allowing you to create the images that you envision in your mind. Selections allow you to adjust or affect only part of your photo rather than the entire image. We'll be learning all the selections tools (Lassos, Marques, Quick Selection brushes etc.), multiple tool selections and more importantly, editing, modifying and saving selections. This presentation style class is taught using Photoshop CC, but is designed for Elements, CS and CC users alike.

 

Level: Advanced Beginner - intermediate.  A good understanding of the basics of Photoshop/Elements is required.

The world of moonlight and night sky is one of the most awe inspiring and challenging areas of photography. In this workshop you'll enjoy this eye-opening opportunity to learn how to shoot cool full moon shots and moonlight landscapes.  We'll start off learning all about the functions and techniques that will be used once it gets dark. (Learning in the dark is tricky).  A good understanding of your camera and it's manual functions is required, as well as, a tripod.

Sunset At Crater Lake Field Trip

We'll be there to capture the stunning high-altitude sunset as only Crater Lake can provide.  But, before that, we'll be shooting Crater Lake from the late afternoon all the way up to the amazing sunset.  I'll be there to provide guidance and answer all your questions. You'll learn tips, techniques and how-to's as well along the way.  Note:   There is no lodging available at Crater Lake, so plan to return home late that night.  Carpooling may be available. This trip is dependent on the snow plow progress on the East Rim.  I will update you as we get closer.

On this trip we'll be shooting high attitude landscapes, wild flowers, rock formations and perhaps wildlife. The Mt. Ashland area is a wonderful photographer's playground. There will be a bit of walking/hiking on uneven rocky paths.

A Day Shooting Near the Ocean at Charleston & Shore Acres

From boat docks to the dry dock to the crashing waves near Shore Acres state park to the beautiful flowers of the unique gardens, this is always been a favorite photography field trip. After a few years break, we're heading back. Whether you've been to Charleston and Shore Acres or not, you'll love this trip. I'll be there to provide guidance and answer all your questions. You'll learn tips, techniques and how-to's as well along the way. (Plan to head over on the 10th for the night in Charleston, Bandon or Coos Bay. A non-shooting partner may join you.)
