Full Moon & Moonlight Landscapes



Saturday, July 8th, 2017, 6:00pm-10pm $55
The world of moonlight is one of the most awe inspiring and challenging areas of photography. In this popular workshop you'll enjoy this eye-opening opportunity to learn how to shoot cool moonlight landscapes as well as the full moon itself. The first part we'll be indoors learning all about the functions and techniques that will be used in the real world. (Learning in the dark is less effective).  Then we'll head outside and begin shooting the sunset, moonrise and then Emigrant Lake landscapes by moonlight. A basic understanding of your camera and it's manual functions is required. A Sturdy tripod is also required as a camera with manual controls.
Level: Avid Beginner - intermediate - advanced

Waterfalls of the Umpqua Field Trip

Waterfalls have always been a popular destination for photographers. But, where are the good waterfalls and how do I shoot them once I find them? This field trip will help you with both of these questions. We'll visit several different types of waterfalls and learn how to capture these challenging scenes. Plan a whole day (7am-7pm round trip) for this trip. (note: there will be several miles of walking/mild hiking throughout the day.)

A Day Shooting Near the Ocean at Bandon

Ah, a day at the ocean. Let me guide you to some of the best places to take pictures in and around Bandon, Oregon. We'll start off at the marina, then visit the historic Lighthouse before lunch, then head to the rocky cliffs and sandy beaches. I'll be there to provide guidance and answer all your questions. You'll learn tips, techniques and how-to's as well along the way. Plan to head over on the 12th for the night. An optional sunset session will be held on Thursday night. (A non-shooting partner may join you.)

Here's a variation of the popular daytime field trip to Crater Lake, but later in the evening and, yes, we'll be there to capture the stunning high-altitude sunset (and what follows) as only Crater Lake can provide. I'll be there to provide guidance and answer all your questions. You'll learn tips, techniques and how-to's as well along the way. (A non-shooting partner may join you.)

Landscapes & Wildflowers on Mt. Ashland

Solar Eclipse Gathering


Monday, August 21st, 2017, 8:30am-11:30am $ free
Join me and others at this informal free gathering of photographers to shoot the solar eclipse. I'll be there to help you shoot this rare event. Remember to get your solar viewing glasses and solar lens filter beforehand. And please remember that at our location you must wear your solar glasses and use the solar filter while viewing the sun at all times during the eclipse. A lawn chair and tripod are also suggested. Solar eclipse viewing binoculars are also available for a closer look. (It will begin partial eclipsing at around 9:00 with the apex of the event estimated at 10:15ish, then finishing out the second partial around 11:15.)
