All About Depth-of-Field & Hyperfocal Distance
(for DSLRs, ILCs & advanced mirrorless cameras)
Monday, June 5th, 2017, 12pm-3pm, $45
Depth-of-Field (how much is in focus) is one of the most important concepts in photography and yes, it does require a 3 hour class. Understanding depth-of-field is a vital part of really knowing photography and achieving your goals. Using the Hyperfocal distance process is a must for all landscape photography. Mastering DOF and HFD is the key to being a great photographer. A good understanding of the basics of photography and your camera is required. My new book, "Understanding Depth of Field in Digital Photography" will be available for $30.

The first day we'll be indoors learning all about the functions and techniques that will be used in the real world on day 2. (Learning in the dark is less effective).  The second night we'll be outside shooting in the dark! A basic understanding of your camera and it's manual functions is required. A Sturdy tripod is also required.

Focus Stacking & Multi-Image Stitching
Monday, June 12th, 2017,  12pm - 3pm  $45
The first half of this class is dedicated to understanding all about focus stacking. Focus Stacking is a process used to achieve the maximum depth of field possible for any shot. It's primary use is macro photography where maximum depth of field is extreme difficult to attain. You'll learn the proper shooting techniques and learn about the software required and the processing techniques. The second part of the class is devoted to multi-image stitching. This technique is used to maximize resolution, angle of view and depth of field. Again, you'll learn the shooting and processing techniques and software need to produce images you never thought possible. This is great for macro photography and for wide angle shooting that goes beyond your lowest focal length. There's more to it than just panoramas.

Understanding Exposure
Wednesday, June 14th, 2017,  6pm - 9pm  $45
Understanding how exposure works is one of the most important core fundamentals in photography. It is also one of the more complex areas in photography to really grasp. Exposure is a difficult concept to teach oneself and with much misinformation in today's photography teachings, it's all-to-common to be misdirected and confused about how exposure really works. In this class we'll dig deep and really learn how to think about exposure modes and how aperture, shutter speed and ISO can work to your benefit in a more effective way.

Mastering Flash Photography
Monday, June 19th, 2017,  12:00pm - 4:00pm  $55
Nearly 90% of all photographers (including professionals) are afraid of their flash.  It’s time to take control and give yourself new ways to control the light in your photography.  In this hands-on class you’ll learn just how simple it is to take great flash pictures. You’ll also learn just how important and life-saving using flash can be.  It is recommended that you have an SLR camera and an external flash unit (aka speedlight).  Small point and shoot cameras or smart phones will not be sufficient to take advantage of this class.  This class is designed for beginner to intermediate users who really want to master their flash.
Note:  Please contact me if you have questions about your camera or flash’s capabilities. Older flashes designed for film cameras may not function properly on modern digital cameras. (Recommended flashes: Canon: 430EXII, 430EXIII-RT, 580EX, 580EXII, 600EX-RT, 600EXII-RT. Nikon SB-600, SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, SB-5000. Fuji: EF-42, EF-X500. Lightroom - Advanced Editing Techniques & Workflow
Wednesday, June 21st, 2017, 6pm-9pm, $45
I've been teaching Lightroom for 9 years now and I've heard one thing above all from my students, "I understand Lightroom, but how do I fix this image?" Basically, just learning and knowing the software doesn't imply you know how to effectively edit your images. There's more to editing than moving sliders around. In this class, we'll go through the advance method of editing images. We'll answer questions like, "what order do I use the tools in?", "how much is too much?", "what's the difference between sharpening and clarity and contrast?" I'll demonstrate the new powerful light-sculpting method of editing images using just 3 basic tools.
